Huge stained glass "Portrait of the Earth" mosaic
February 2013. A British artist who spent two and a half years creating an enormous 330,000 piece ‘portrait of the Earth’ artwork has put it on eBay for a quarter of a million pounds ($388K, €290K) or best offer, and aims to make a difference to Sierra Leone with the proceeds.
Chris Chamberlain reckons his illuminated stained glass micro-mosaic, which is 3.2 meters wide by 2.2m tall and painstakingly interpreted from NASA satellite photos, is the first of its kind in the world.
