Beginners Guide to Mosaics

The Art Mosaic range keeps on expanding. In conjunction with Search Press, Royal Sovereign have published this new softback book for beginners in the art of mosaic.

Written by Peter Massey MA (RAC) and Alison Slater BA (hons.) they will guide you through a brief history of mosaic through to the tools and equipment needed to start you on your way. Obviously Art Mosaic products feature but a range of other tiles and found items and tools are talked about..

The first project is a simple Aztec mirror frame, in opus regulatum to help you get started, but then the book goes on to more intricate designs and techniques as you work through the it. Other projects include crazy paving, flower pots, a clock embellished with gold beads.

There are over 80 colour step-by-step photographs illustrating all the basic techniques from transferring designs and cutting tiles to colouring grout and using a mesh base.

Beginners Guide to Mosaic is an excellent compliment to Art Mosaics "Creating Mosaic" video. All the step-by-step photographs used in the book feature the authors, demonstrating how to mosaic.
