21st Century Mosaics was established in 1996 by London based artist Paul J Marks. His aim was to create mosaics using traditional methodologies, combined with a modern philosophy. Over the last ten years he has become one of the leading figures working in this field.

3D Byzantium Buildings
There is a superb website called "Byzantium 1200", by Tayfun Öner and Albrecht Berger, devoted to creating 3-D images of the principal monuments of the Queen of Cities in 1200 AD. To date they have reconstructed more than fifty - forums, columns, arches, palaces, churches - if you want to see the places where lots of wondrous mosaics once existed (and a few survive), this site is a must.

Art in the Park
A community project in Spencer, USA; where two Chicago based artists helped guide the public, from children to the elderly, in the creation of a ceramic tile mosaic. Nina Smoot-Caine and John Pitman Weber will help to build the plaza and seating area in East Leach Park.
