Lucio Orsoni, Master of Mosaic, dies

"With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Lucio Orsoni (Venice, March 6, 1939 – October 28, 2025), Master of Color and guardian of the Venetian mosaic tradition.

A direct descendant of the founder Angelo Orsoni, Lucio embodied for over sixty years the artistic and visionary soul of the Fornace Orsoni, bringing the excellence of Venetian mosaic and Made in Italy craftsmanship to the world.

As he loved to say, “To make mosaic, you must think mosaic.”
His legacy will live on through the La Scola project — a space dedicated to Lucio Orsoni, opening in 2026 as a place for education and the transmission of artisanal knowledge.

A life entirely devoted to matter, light, and color."
