BRITISH ASSOCIATION FOR MODERN MOSAIC
ANNUAL FORUM 2015

Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th October 2015

St. John's Church, Waterloo, London SE1 8UD

This year’s British Annual Mosaic Forum brought together inspirational speakers from across the world and provided a platform for networking and celebration of all things mosaic.

Speakers included Italian master mosaicist Guilio MENOSSI;
Ruth Minola SCHEIBLER, one of an innovative group of European mosaic artists known as Mosaïzm, and the talented Italian pebble mosaicist Luciano BONZINI. Also taking to the stage was Mia TAVONATTIi, who has crafted a diverse career in art over the last 25 years, and Veronique JUAN, whose MosaïStreet is the first web platform dedicated to professionals and experienced amateur mosaicists. Plus the V&A's Heike ZECH on the mosaics of St Paul's Cathedral, London.

There were practical workshops hosted by some of the speakers on Sunday 4th October, providing a not-to-be-missed opportunity to learn new skills and approaches and develop creative practice. These included a one-day workshop exploring andamenti by Ruth Minola Schneiber and the team from Mosaizm, and a workshop by Mia Tavonatti, entitled "Painting with Glass". Mia introduced her personal process of creating realistic stained glass mosaics. She taught how to use basic colour theory, and “edging” like a painter in order to create natural depth, motion and the illusion of transparency in stained glass mosaics.

A pop-up exhibition of attendees' own mosaic work was held on the day. Attendees also got the opportunity to meet old and new friends over lovely catering, and shop at the Mosaic Market.

A dinner was held on the Saturday evening at Taz Ev Restaurant in Isabella Street, offering members and guests an informal networking opportunity.

The BAMM Mosaic of the Year Award 2015, voted for by BAMM members for the first time this year, was also announced at the Forum.

Tickets were £35 for members and £45 for non-members.
